According to recent news from the Zigong Lantern Festival Organizing Committee, the 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival will open in late January 2026 at the China Lantern World.

"Valley of Life" Partial Design
This year's lantern festival, themed "Illuminating China, Building Dreams for the Future," features ten major sections, including "Chinese Knot Avenue," "Fortune and Prosperity Square," "Legend of Mulan," "Craftsmanship and Intangible Cultural Heritage," and "Magical China." Using 11 large-scale lantern sets and over 200 medium and small-sized lantern sets, the festival creates an immersive spectacle that blends intangible cultural heritage techniques with cutting-edge digital technology, presenting visitors with an artistic panorama of "all things coexisting in harmony."

This is a lantern festival where ancient and modern elements blend together.
Traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques such as Zigong lanterns, tie-dyeing, and paper-cutting are deeply integrated with Chinese mythology, epic poems, and classic historical stories. Centered around the imagery of the Year of the Horse, numerous folk tales, ancient legends, and traditional customs will be wonderfully presented at the lantern festival.

Life Valley "Birth of Dreams" Lantern Group Design
The "Chinese Knot Gate" lantern group, standing 35 meters tall and inspired by the Chinese knot, is the first to achieve visual unity from both the front and back, resembling a time-space gate connecting the past and present; the giant "Magical China" lantern group, approximately 210 meters long, extracts the grand imagery of the Kunpeng from Zhuangzi, showcasing the strength of the nation and national pride through mythological narratives; the 22-meter-tall "Yearly Prosperity" mythical beast lantern group features the latest AI interactive system, enabling a friendly "dialogue" between the ancient auspicious beast and humans; and as the Year of the Horse approaches, the 180-meter-long "Mulan Legend" lantern group, based on the story of Mulan joining the army, features various horse figures complementing Mulan's heroic posture, conveying a profound sense of patriotism.

This year's lantern festival further breaks through material boundaries, for the first time integrating environmentally friendly and recycled materials such as blue and white porcelain, straw, medicine bottles, and chili peppers, as well as local elements and trendy items like pipe cleaners, into themed lantern groups for display. This not only interprets the environmental concept of "turning waste into treasure," but also uses intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship to breathe artistic life into ordinary materials, conveying the cultural connotation of "all things have spirit, and craftsmanship is unified."
