The simple shape of the paper lantern is a cube or a cylinder. It is best to choose a bamboo branch or bamboo skin that can be bent to form a frame. The connection place is tied with a thin line. If it is not easy to find, slender strip-shaped cardboard and bamboo sticks for barbecue can be used. The firmness and flexibility will be lacking, but it is also a good decoration in the interior.
Buy a few white and red plain rice paper or gold rice paper in the four treasure shop of the study, and cut it to the length and width of the lantern skeleton, then you can design your own patterns. Calligraphy, painting, and paper-cutting can all be displayed on the small lantern. After pasting, you can also use narrow strips of imitation damask paper to trim the top and bottom, which looks more elegant, much like an ancient palace lantern. If you are not very good at painting and calligraphy, use a piece of thin paper to write the desired words on the copybook, then overlap this thin paper with dark red rice paper, and use a single-edged blade to dig out the writing. After removing the thin paper, hollow handwriting appeared on the red rice paper. White rice paper is used as the lamp body, red rice paper is pasted inside, candlelight or light is mapped from the hollow, the effect is quite beautiful.
1. Prepare a rectangular red cardboard (I used an expired old calendar card) a beautiful little lantern made by myself.
2. Leave 0.5 ~ 1.0cm on each side of the jammed paper, divide a number of parallel lines into equal parts, and then cut it with a paper knife.
3. Roll around to make the jammed paper curved.
4. Butt, cut the leftovers into thin strips to make spikes, and then paste the string to make a beautiful little lantern made by yourself.
